Our Mission
The Joseph Mitchell Memorial was created to honor the life and legacy of Firefighter Joseph Mitchell by supporting those who share his calling to serve. Our mission is to empower future and current First Responders by providing financial assistance for their educational pursuits and connecting them with experienced mentors in the field.
Founded by Joseph’s friends and family, we are committed to keeping his spirit alive by supporting the next generation of public servants and honoring all who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Scholarships through the Joseph Mitchell Memorial are made possible by generous donations and community-supported events.
This year, we’re excited to announce the First Responders BBQ Cook-Off, taking place May 9, 2026, at Cactus Land Brewery in Adkins, Texas. Join us as we bring the community together to support this important cause.
